To engage mothers and educate them about their baby’s skincare needs, the Johnson & Johnson marketing team in the UAE sought an innovative solution to demonstrate the effectiveness of their J&J Baby Top-to-Toe Bath. The objective was to highlight the product’s ability to support the baby’s first line of defense—the stratum corneum—by protecting against bacteria, irritants, allergens, and environmental attacks.
To achieve this, J&J wanted a tool that could visually demonstrate how their product maintains the skin barrier’s function while educating mothers on how the skin’s natural desquamation process works with and without the product.
USP’s Contribution
USP Solutions developed a 2-strip Skin Barrier Test Card using advanced skin barrier technology. This demo tool offered a hands-on experience, allowing mothers to see firsthand how the product improves their baby’s skin barrier.
The tool worked by removing corneocytes (dead skin cells or flakes) from the skin’s outer layer, the stratum corneum. The amount of removed corneocytes indicated the moisture levels and the health of the skin barrier. The test involved two steps:
- Before Product Use: The first strip assessed the baby’s skin barrier status, indicating whether it was normal, low, or high.
- After Product Use: The second strip demonstrated how J&J Baby Top-to-Toe Bath visibly improved the skin barrier, reinforcing its role in maintaining skin health and moisture balance.
This simple yet powerful demonstration allowed mothers to visualize the benefits of the product, creating a memorable and impactful experience.
Impact
The Skin Barrier Test Card became a key tool for J&J’s marketing team in the UAE, elevating consumer engagement and driving sales of the J&J Baby Top-to-Toe Bath range. By delivering clear, science-backed results in a highly engaging format, the demo positioned J&J Baby as a trusted and reliable choice for baby skincare.
